Water, water everywhere.....

The entire Caribbean has been facing shortage in rainfall, which essential means we are having a drought.  Unfortunately my little tropical paradise is not immune.  The water authority has instituted a water rationing system.  While the schedule has been somewhat wacky, I am happy that I can at least look forward to having water flowing through the pipe at least a few hours every day or every other day.

Water supply is more than just turning on the tap and having liquid flow out of it.  No rainfall equals a shortage in the water table, the dams, springs and local cisterns.

Being surrounded by miles of pristine white sandy beaches does not equal water for all.  According to the authorities, the local disaltination plant is quite expensive to run.  This is not the first drought and by now you would think we would be proactive.....ah well!!

So what does this mean for this local gal.....filling old water containers and hoping it's enough while I get water for a few hours per day or at least every few days.  And of course, my luck would be that the pump and tank system hooked up to the cistern is on the blink.  Life is so full of wonderful things some times.  But in all it's not that bad....after all, it's about going green!
